Funeral Mass for Fr. Fackler

LANSING - Bishop Kenneth J. Povish officiated at a Funeral Mass June 8 at St. Mary Church, Pinckney 

for Father John M.
Fackler, retired priest of the Lans­ing Diocese. Fr. Fackler, age 71,
died suddenly June 4.

   A native of Dayton, OH, Fr. Fackler attended St. Gregory Sem­inary, Cincinnati; Mt. St. Mary of the West

Seminary, Norwood, OH
and then was ordained for the Diocese of Lansing at Cincinnati on Oct. 26, 1946. 
  
He served as assistant pastor in Fowler, Battle Creek, Flint, Kalamazoo and Lansing between 1946 and 1957. 
   He

served as pastor at Three
Rivers from 1957 to 1962; St. John, Fenton from 1962 to 1964,
when he oversaw the

construction of the present church; St. Mary,
Charlotte from 1970 to 1972; St. Robert, Flushing from 1972 to
1983;

and St. Mary, Pinckney
from 1983 until his retirement in 1990.


  Fr. Fackler's considerable tal­ents were enlisted in the service of the diocese as finance coordinator; member of

the finance committee,
building committee, property
planning committee and cemetery commission; and organizer
 
of the present Diocesan Services Appeal.

 
Fr. Fackler is survived by a sister
and brother-in-law. Dorothy and Herb Stachler, of Dayton, OH.

 Fr. Fackler lay in state at St. Mary Church, Pinckney. Inter­ment was in Dayton, OH.

Holy Redeemer Class of 1957


West, Darwin L. – G-2414 S. Center Rd; age 34, died Tuesday, October 9, 1973, at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 12, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. James Sedic officiating. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery. Mr. West will lie in state at the Reigle Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 2417 S. Saginaw, where rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday. Mr. West was born in Flint, July 8, 1939, had been a resident of the Flint area all his life. He was employed as a trim worker at Fisher Body No 2. Surviving are: Father, Lawrence West of Flint; step-mother, Bonita West of Flint; son, Mark West; 3 daughters, Carol Ann, Dana and Trina West, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Jack and Donald, both of Flint, and Jerry of Davison; step-sister, Mrs. Arthur Love of Sterling Heights; 2 step-brothers, James Frederickson of Detroit and Paul Frederickson of Toledo; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

William E. Shuessler, Jr of Flushing, age 37 died Friday, May 21, 1976, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services were held at St. Robert Catholic Church. He was buried in St. Robert Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Shuessler was born in Cullman, Alabama, January 23, 1939, the son of William and Cecelia Schuessler. He married Sandra Durham in Flint, May 7, 1960. Mr. Shuessler was a Production Supervisor at Chevrolet Metal Fabrication. Surviving are: wife, Sandra; 3 sons, Richard, Keith, and Christopher, all are at home. Stony's motorcycle had broken it's chain. He called his wife to pick him up and started pushing it along the side of the road when a drunk driver hit and killed him. The driver hit and ran but was soon arrested. His wife arrived with a trailer just as he was struck, thrown 50 feet and killed.

 

CANNON, Melvin L. - Of Flint, age 61, died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30AM Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 North Elms Road in Flushing, Very Reverend David A. Hannes officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church or Genesys Hospice. Visitation 6-8PM Monday, 2-4 and 6-9PM Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A memorial service will be held at 6:30PM Tuesday by the Knights of Columbus-Davison Council 4090 and a Parastas will be held at 7:30PM at the funeral home. Mr. Cannon was born in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 1938. He was a graduate of The University of Michigan. He was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus-Davison Council 4090. He was also a member of ARIES and ARAY Ham Radio Clubs and UAW Local 1292. Mr. Cannon was employed by General Motors at the Tank Plant for 40 years, retiring in 2000. Surviving are wife, Kathryn; 2 children, Chad and wife Teresa of Clarkston, Kristen and husband Johnny Mason of Burton; 2 grandchildren, Lynn and Collin Cannon; 3 brothers, John and wife Carol Cannon of Marenisco, Michigan, David and wife Arlene Young of Ontonagon, Michigan and Terry Cannon; many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Genesvs Hosoice Care Center.






Janice K. Mc Kenna Taylor age 65, of Higgins Lake, formerly of Flint, died June 3, 2005. Born in Flint on June 6, 1939 to Thomas and Margaret Tribley) McKenna. Janice owned Clip and Curl Beauty Salon at Higgins Lake. Beloved wife of Rod Taylor. Mother of Tamala Gage of Higgins Lake and Dan (Connie) Taylor of Westland. Grandmother of Sara and Michael Taylor, Angie, (Jeff) Tomes and Matt Gage. Great grandmother of Zoe Tomes. Sister of Fred Mc Kenna of Mayville. Mike (Lorii) Mc Kenna of Davison, Maryann (Walt) Muntin of Flint, Barb Coon of Grand Blanc, and Debbie (Bob) Brooks of Cleo. Many nieces and nephews.

 

Moloney-Best, Margot Marguerite - Of Grass Valley, CA, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 in Grass Valley. Mrs.Moloney -Best was born in London, England on July 10, 1938, the daughter of William Ignatius Maloney and Madeline McCarthy. She was a graduate of Holy Redeemer High School in Flint, Ml and earned her BA from UC Davis and Sacramento State. She was a writer. She married John A. Best, M.D. on June 20, 1982 in Flushing, Ml. Margot was a member of Master Gardeners and her hobbies were horticulture and writing. Surviving are: husband, John A. Best, M.D. of Grass Valley, CA; children, Michael Conroy of Yuba City, CA, Mary Crites of Apply Valley, MN, Daniel Glomson of Grand Blanc, Ml, Sean Glomson of Lincoln, CA, Andrew Glomson of Grass Valley, CA, Annemarie Sullivan of Salinas, CA; 7 grandchildren, Brittany Conroy, Chase Conroy, Laurene Glomson, Aidan Conroy, Elizabeth Glomson, Kaetlyn Sullivan and baby Sullivan. Visitation was Thursday, July 28, 2005 from 2PM- 7PM at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, 250 Race St., Grass Valley, CA. Mass of Christian Burial 2PM Friday, July 29, 2005 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Grass Valley, CA Private Inurnment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Grass Valley, CA. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, Grass Valley, CA.

 

 

 

Bird, Ada I. Of Davison, age 65, passed away Friday, February 3,2006 at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at St. John the Evangelists Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St, Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be 12-8 PM Monday and Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Audubon Society or Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan. Ada was born in Flint, Mi on December 2,1940, daughter of the late Howard and Bessie (Osborn) Doyle. She resided in Davison most of her life and was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a Clio School Nurse for 25 years while a nursing instructor at Mott Community College and I of M-Flint. She was a past president of the Michigan Association of School Nurses. Ada w as employed by Genesee County Health from which she retired. She was an avid dancer and traveler who enjoyed knitting, bird watching and most of all her grand children. Ada is survived by her children, Patti (Shawn), Matt (Paula), Mike (and friend Makenzie): grand children, Kaylyn, Kyle, Katherine, Elizabeth. Jacqueline; great grand daughter, Tyler; brother Aden (Marie) Doyle; sisters, Annie Marie Doyle, Lola Weisgerber, Angie Bowman and several nieces and nephews.
